Waiting families
Will + Syd
Hi! We’re Will & Syd.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about us! We are the Wallaces 😊. We know that if you’re here, you’re likely navigating one of the most significant and emotional decisions of your life. Before anything else, we want you to know how much respect we have for you and the decision that has led you to this moment.
One of the very first conversations we ever had as a couple was whether we both wanted a family someday. The answer was an immediate and wholehearted “yes.” That shared dream has shaped every chapter of our relationship, and after 5 years of struggling with infertility it has led us here; with grateful hearts and hope for whatever the future may hold.
Unlike the fairytales, our story didn’t begin with love at first sight. We actually met in high school, where Will was the outgoing theater/sports guy and Syd was the quiet artist who turned him down… twice. It wasn’t until years later, while working on a collegiate theater production together, that the stars finally aligned and the rest, as they say, is history! Looking back, those first interactions say a lot about who we are. Will is endlessly optimistic and persistent when something truly matters to him, while Syd is thoughtful, discerning, and believes actions speak louder than words. Together, those qualities have become our greatest strengths.
We genuinely enjoy exploring life together; whether that’s traveling somewhere new, discovering a new piece of music or show, spending time outdoors, or working together on a creative project. We challenge each other in the best ways and can honestly say that anything done together is 10x better than doing it alone. Will has introduced Syd to traditions and adventures she never imagined she’d love, while Syd has broadened Will’s appreciation for new ideas, art, and perspectives. Rather than opposites, we’ve found we’re compliments to each other who continually help each other grow (very Yin & Yang in that sense).
Creativity and curiosity has always been a cornerstone of our lives. Will works with homeless veterans while pursuing his dream of becoming a published author and teacher. Syd is a Creative Manager and multidisciplinary artist who loves designing, dancing, videography, and collaborating with local arts organizations. More than anything, we hope to share that sense of curiosity with our future child and continue to grow with them. Not by deciding who they’ll become, but by encouraging them to discover who they are and what their passions are.
Family has also taught us that love extends beyond biology. Will grew up in a home where friends were welcomed like family, and he’s carried that tradition into adulthood. Syd’s experience taught her that family is often found as much as it is inherited. Together we are surrounded by parents, siblings, cousins, honorary aunts and uncles, lifelong friends, and an entire village of people who are already excited to welcome another little one into their lives.
Our home is full of laughter, traditions, and the belief that even ordinary days are worth celebrating. We look forward to family game nights, gingerbread house competitions, bedtime stories with Will doing a different voice for every character, spontaneous ice cream after life’s big (and little) victories, exploring museums and hiking trails, creating messy art projects, cheering from the sidelines, and making space for whatever passions our child discovers along the way. We also share our home with two wonderfully spoiled, loving, friendly cats: Lu and Dipper. Lu (our boy cat), is older and a mama’s boy through and through. Dipper, our younger cat, is a complete daddy’s girl who doesn’t know the meaning of the word fear and is quite literally the floppiest and most unbothered cat either of us have ever met.
As we look toward what lies ahead, we find ourselves filled with both excitement and gratitude. Gratitude for Wyoming Children’s Society, gratitude that we have arrived at this moment after many years of uncertainty and heartache, gratitude for the unwavering support of our loved ones and each other, and gratitude to you for opening your heart to this path.
While we are excited to meet the child we have long dreamed of loving and raising, we recognize that every adoption story begins before we become part of it. It begins with you. Regardless of whether our paths continue together, we wish you peace, clarity, and all the support throughout the journey ahead. We could never fully express how deeply we respect the care, courage, and love that has guided you to this moment.
If our paths are meant to converge, we want you to know that your child will always know they were loved from the very beginning, and that their story is made richer by the people who helped shape it. They will be raised with unwavering love, abundant curiosity, creativity, and passion, and countless little moments that we hope become lifelong memories. They’ll grow up knowing they are safe, encouraged, celebrated, and deeply loved by us and an entire village that cannot wait to welcome them.
Whatever the future holds, we hope you are kind to yourself and feel surrounded by compassion and support as you make the decision that is right for you and your child. If our paths are meant to cross, it would be one of the greatest honors of our lives to love your child wholeheartedly while always honoring their story.
Thank you for everything, because it truly is everything to us,
Syd & Will
