While it is hard to fit our entire lives into a few pages, we hope this gives you a glimpse into the unconditional love and stable home we are ready to provide.
Our Story
We are Derek and Sharon Ogren. We met at the University of Wyoming in 2008, where a simple connection quickly grew into a partnership rooted in trust, laughter, and shared values. We married in 2014 and have spent the last decade building a life of stability and adventure.
Early on, we knew we wanted to grow our family. While we faced the heartbreak of infertility and miscarriage, these challenges only strengthened our faith and confirmed our desire to adopt. We have always felt that adoption would be part of our story, and we are honored that you might become a part of that journey with us.
Meet Derek
Derek is a man of commitment and integrity. Growing up, sports taught him the discipline and resilience he carries today. Rugby is his lifelong passion, valued for its sense of camaraderie and respect. His Greek Orthodox faith shapes his dedication to family and service. Professionally, Derek is a claims adjuster, a role where he remains calm and dependable for people during stressful moments. Whether he is hiking in the mountains or relaxing at home, Derek brings a positive, grounded energy to everything he does.
Meet Sharon
Sharon’s life is guided by her Baptist faith and a deep trust in God’s timing. Raised with two brothers, she spent her childhood outdoors—gardening, swimming, and raising livestock. These early responsibilities sparked a curiosity for science that led her to careers as a Veterinary Technician, an EMT, and now a Medical Lab Scientist. She is empathetic, level-headed, and thrives on helping others. In her free time, Sharon loves photography, traveling, and creating a home filled with grace and respect.
Our Life in Wyoming
We live in Laramie, Wyoming, with our two dogs, Tank and Koda, and a small flock of chickens. Our home is in a safe, quiet neighborhood with a large, fenced-in backyard perfect for playing and gardening. Living in a college town, we have access to wonderful parks, museums, and unique resources like equine therapy. On weekends, you’ll find us exploring the nearby mountains, visiting local farmers’ markets, or enjoying a movie with a big bucket of popcorn.
A Village of Support
Our family and friends are overjoyed to support us in this journey. Sharon’s father can’t wait to start science projects with a new grandchild, while her mother is ready to share her love of baking. Derek’s mother is eager to pass down her Greek heritage through cooking and traditions. Our extended “village” includes aunts, uncles, cousins, and a tight-knit rugby family. Your child would grow up surrounded by diverse perspectives—from city life and museums to ranching and woodworking—ensuring they have the support to become anything they imagine.
