Waiting families
Kevin + Abby
Hello!
We are Kevin and Abby. We want to start by saying thank you for reading our letter and learning about us. We are excited to share a few things about ourselves in this letter, and we are looking forward to getting to know you too! We know that this decision must be one of the most difficult decisions that you have had to make, so we want you to know we are here to support you and your baby. We also want to give you peace of mind knowing that your little one will be part of a safe, loving family environment. If you have any questions for us after reading our letter, we would love to meet you and answer any questions you have for us that will help you in making your decision.
We dated for about a year-and-a-half before getting married in July of 2019. Due to some medical issues I (Abby) had during college, having a baby naturally became a dangerous and difficult process. Coming from a large family of seven siblings who were all adopted, it became clear to me that I would have the opportunity to start my own family the same way my parents started theirs – through adoption.
We currently live in central Wyoming, and we are both accountants at local CPA Firms. One of our favorite things to do is travel! We love seeing and exploring new places and making our own adventures – particularly in several of the national parks that we live so close to. We are excited for our son or daughter to join us on these adventures so that he or she has the opportunity to see all of the amazing, beautiful sights we are blessed to live near (and the opportunity to become a junior park ranger!) We also enjoy hanging out with our dog, Scooter – our beagle that we rescued several years ago. He is one of the most lovable pups around. We also try to spend as much time as possible with family. On Sundays after church, we go to Abby’s parents’ house for Sunday lunch. Kevin’s family lives in Louisiana, but we do our best to visit them as often as we can. No matter which part of the family we are hanging out with at the time, we do our best to make sure to laugh and have fun while doing it. We, and our families, are looking forward to welcoming your son or daughter into our lives and making happy memories with him or her.
I (Kevin) grew up in Louisiana with my mom, dad and two younger brothers. Growing up, I also enjoyed traveling and spending time with my grandparents who passed their love of national parks onto me. In high school, I was involved with my church’s youth group, and playing in the high school band (I played the saxophone). I went to college and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA, and then went to work as an accountant in a local accounting firm in Louisiana. After moving to Wyoming in the summer of 2019, I have worked at two other accounting firms. Since moving to Wyoming, I have also become involved with our church’s youth group by volunteering as a middle school youth worker there. I also volunteer as a board member and the treasurer at a local youth crisis center.
I (Abby) was born in Louisiana and adopted by my parents when I was an infant. My dad worked in the oil field business and his work brought us to Wyoming when I was about six, and I have lived here since then. I grew up in big family with three older siblings and three younger siblings (who were all adopted), so we were always busy with one activity or another. We always went on road trips down to Louisiana to visit our aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents who lived there – which is actually how I met Kevin (his family lived down the street from my aunt, uncle, and cousin and his family was good friends with them). When we aren’t traveling, I enjoy spending time baking, reading, and playing piano. Funny enough, similar to Kevin, I also went to college and graduated with an accounting degree and an MBA, and I also currently work at a CPA firm in town.
We both want to thank you so much for considering us as adoptive parents for your child and taking a few minutes to get to know a little bit about us from our letter. We are excited about the possibility of adopting and bringing a little one into our home. While we know parenthood will not be easy and there will be some days that are more difficult than others, our goal is to make our home a loving, kind, and safe environment filled with happiness. We are fortunate to have family members who will help us raise a wise and kind-hearted son or daughter. We look forward to meeting you and are hopeful of getting the opportunity to know more about you too.
With Love,
Kevin and Abby
