Waiting families
Hyrum + Anna
To The Courageous Woman Reading This:
Our hearts go out to you in this difficult decision you have to make. We have cried many tears thinking of you, and have felt great love and admiration for you fill our hearts. Whatever your decision is, we hope you are able to find peace and comfort, knowing you are trying to do what’s best out of love. Thank you for considering us as you explore your options. We love children with all our hearts and have both always hoped for a large family full of love. We have devoted our whole lives to being the best parents we can be. To any child that joins our family…
We promise to provide. Hyrum is a chaplain for the Air Force, and as an officer, he receives great pay and benefits that support our family very comfortably. As a chaplain and as a father, he is dependable, disciplined, attentive, trustworthy, kind, knowledgeable, and so good at listening. From the minute he steps in the door after work each day, he is always fully present and involved, (it is always the best part of the day for Anna and the girls!). We live in a beautiful, safe home on a military base, with ten different playgrounds within our neighborhood! As a stay-at-home mother, Anna finds great joy in making our house a home, providing delicious and healthy family meals, homeschooling our children, and creating a happy, warm, inviting, safe, and loving home environment. She is nurturing, loyal, responsible, organized, patient, and compassionate.
We promise to connect. We have very intentionally added lots of one-on-one moments into our lifestyle so that each of our children feel individually loved and cared for. Each of our girls look forward to special one-on-one time during Sunday “Walk and Talks”, Daddy Daughter Dates, individual learning time with Mom for homeschool, and being tucked into bed each night with books, hugs, talk time, and prayers.
We promise to have fun! In the last year, we have visited the zoo, the aquarium, the library, the space museum, the carnival, and the beach. We have enjoyed children’s museums, splash pads, playgrounds, pools, national parks, caves, and historical sites. We have loved hiking, biking, swimming, camping, reading, dancing, singing, and playing board games together. We’ve stayed in cabins and hotels and resorts, celebrated holidays and birthdays and accomplishments, and have made so many wonderful memories together.
We promise to teach. One of our favorite things as parents is to watch our children learn and grow and find wonder and joy in the world around them. In our homeschool, we read, imagine, create, sing, pray, study, laugh, play, explore, talk, listen, and always encourage and love! We have done tons of research to choose the best of the best learning curriculums, and have felt great joy in teaching our children! We love that homeschooling keeps us connected to our children, allows us to be fully involved in their learning, and gives us plenty of time and flexibility for family fun!
We promise to support. As parents, it is our job to help our children discover what they are good at and what they love, and then to give them wings to fly. This year we’ve enjoyed supporting our girls in dance, tumbling, soccer, piano, and other various goals they have shared with us. We will always be their greatest cheerleaders and support them however we can.
We promise the gift of family. A loving mother and father, four sweet and kind sisters, two gentle and cuddly dogs, and a huge, close-knit, supportive extended family! Our parents are the most amazing grandparents to our children, and our children’s many cousins are their very best friends! We make it a priority to see them often (including family reunions each summer), and they come visit us often as well. Both of our families are very supportive of our desire to adopt, and they will welcome any child with wide open arms.
We promise to remember. We will always speak of you with deep love and respect and gratitude and never forget the great gift of life, love, and sacrifice that you gave.
Most importantly, we promise to LOVE—unconditionally, with all of our hearts, forever.
Very sincerely,
Hyrum and Anna and our children: Charity, Faith, Grace, and Felicity
