Why should I consider Russian adoption?
The wait time for young, healthy children is relatively short and our experienced staff will assist you throughout the entire process.

Must I live in Wyoming to adopt a Russian child through Wyoming Children’s Society?
No, we are able to work with families throughout the United States and with United States citizens living abroad.

How long does it take to adopt a child from Russia?
Most families complete the adoption process within 12-18 months. The length of time is partially determined by your home study agency, USCIS and how quickly your dossiers are prepared.

What regions do you work in?
We work in three regions: Leningrad, Pskov and Krasnoyarsk. Leningrad and Pskov are located near St. Petersburg. Krasnoyarsk is located near the Siberian border.

How much does it cost to adopt from Russia?
Wyoming Children’s Society charges an application fee, agency fee, child placement fee and a post placement deposit. Home study fees, USCIS fees, travel and miscellaneous expenses in Russia are additional. Fees in country will vary based on the season and region of your travel and your individual travel preferences. An estimated cost for one child is $35,000 to $45,000.

Is there financial help available?
Yes. The Federal Tax Credit is available and you should consult your accountant for details. Many banks will offer loans to cover adoption expenses. We can also give you a list of websites to visit that offer grants and low interest loans.

Do I have to travel?
Yes, there are two trips required. The first trip is approximately three to four days in duration and the second trip is approximately three weeks, excluding travel time.

Can I adopt more than one child at a time?
Yes. You may adopt a sibling group or unrelated children.

Are there age limits for parents adopting Russian children?
Not at this time. It is ideal if the female parent is under the age of 50 if you wish to adopt a child under the age of 3.

Can single and divorced individuals adopt from Russia?
 Yes, single women and divorced individuals may adopt from Russia.
