Waiting Child Adoption
Wyoming residents only. Waiting child services are not provided in Colorado.
There are many wonderful children waiting for adoption who have a variety of special needs. Just as the children have special needs, the parents considering adopting have needs for specialized information and often they need special financial assistance as well.
Waiting children are currently in public foster care and most have been removed from their families of origin due to abuse or chronic neglect.
We are committed to finding loving, permanent homes for waiting children in the public foster care system. These children are defined as having special needs that may include behavioral, emotional, educational, and/or medical challenges, or children who are members of sibling groups that must be placed together. Our professional staff recruit, assess, prepare and support Wyoming adoptive homes for the particular challenges of parenting children who have been victims of abuse and neglect.
Wyoming applicants for waiting child adoption services are required to complete a 20-credit-hour online preparatory training prior to their home study being approved and before placement can occur. Colorado requires preparatory training for both waiting child and infant adoption.
