There are over 150,000 children in the public foster care system waiting to be adopted in the United States. Hundreds of these children are in the Rocky Mountain region. Most have waited more than four years for a family they can call their own.
Despite 20 years' experience as an adoption and foster care professional, I still feel an incredible sense of joy and gratification each time we are able to match a waiting child with a permanent and loving adoptive family. I am proud to be a part of the Wyoming Children's Society, where creating permanency through adoption for waiting children is a commitment we take seriously. In the course of my work I am fortunate to collaborate with other committed adoption professionals in the Wyoming child welfare system as well as other states. It is my hope that our collective endeavors will resultin increased numbers of waiting children who find a 'forever' family.
